THE CHRISTIAN JOURNEY
Fellowship with God in the Promise Land! by Eric Fasci
When we look at the Israelites and their journey we see some notable things. First, they were in Egypt as slaves and in bondage to the Egyptians and Pharaoh. Second, they entered into the wilderness, and because of their sin, they wandered there for 40 years. And third, they entered into the Promised Land, the land that flows with milk and honey. PLMM believes we are in one of these three places during the cycle of our life. First we are in Egypt, as slaves and in bondage like the Israelites but to the world. Second, we wander the wilderness in sin while knowing who God is. And lastly, we entered into the Promised Land, living a Spirit filled life bearing fruit and avoiding the habitual sin that has had control over our lives. A frightening thought though is, in the first two places, you could end up spending your entire life there, and never making it to the Promised Land. Let me explain each of the three places to you for a better understanding on how God has used the Israelites for us to learn from.

Egypt
Consider Egypt as a representation of the world, and Pharaoh a representation of Satan. When we are born we are born into sin. Growing up without Christ, we become slaves to sin in the world and to the world. Satan keeps us oppressed in our sin. You can consider everyone that does not know of God to be living in Egypt (The World). Day in and day out they are suffering with this huge void in your heart; a spiritual hunger that you cannot satisfy. These people are lost and this is the place where they belong and will live. That is the Satan's biggest deception, to be complacent and stay in bondage to sin and not even know it.

Hebrews 3:16-19
Who were they that heard and yet were rebellious? Was it not all those who left Egypt under the leadership of Moses? And with whom was he provoked forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? And to whom did he swear that they should never enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient?

So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.

Wilderness
The Israelites entered into the wilderness and wandered in circles for 40 years. They knew who God was, they accepted Him and followed Him. They saw all of His miracles but they continued to sin. In fact, that entire generation died before the rest of them could enter into the Promised Land. In some instances they even wanted to go back to Egypt. They complained and grumbled, and sinned against God.

1 Corinthians 10: 5-11
“Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: "The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry." We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did--and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. We should not test Christ, as some of them did--and were killed by snakes. And do not grumble, as some of them did--and were killed by the destroying angel. These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.”

Many of us chose to follow God and were taken out of Egypt (The World) and went on our journey through the wilderness. But, because of our sin we continue to wander in circles, over and over again. We are all sinners, but are referring to the habitual sin, the sin that controls us and overrules us. This sin we battle almost daily and have a hard time giving up. We fight the temptation on our own, we lose, we sin, we enjoy it for a specified time, we feel bad about it, we pray and ask God to forgive us and then we are right back at it again, and again, And we just wander in the wilderness. Sinning like this keeps us from entering the Promised Land.
This is the land that God promised to Abraham and his descendants. We believe that this land also represents His promise to us, that He has a place here on earth that we can live in fellowship with Him. A place or a stage in life that we can live Spirit filled lives, loving one another, bearing fruit and giving witness to what He promised; His Son, Jesus Christ. Our mission in this ministry is for men that are living in the “Promise Land”, to help other men get out of Egypt, by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The second part of the ministry, is reaching men living in the wilderness, by sharing with them and praying for them as it says in James 5:16.

James 5:16
Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. A prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much.

Hebrews 3:1-6
Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession; He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was in all His house. For He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house. For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God. Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later; but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house—whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.
